TCM Acupuncture: A Treatment for Back Pain, Fertility & Weight Loss?

Traditional Chinese Medicine is one of the oldest traditional medical practice around the world. It originated in ancient China and has been around for thousands of years. At first, people were skeptic about this particular type of healing process; but as TCM started gaining its popularity, it eventually got accepted by the general public.

One of the most famous methods of TCM is the acupuncture treatment. The practice of acupuncture treatment was derived from the belief or theory that there is energy flowing within the human body, an energy that can be channeled to help relieve pain, create balance and improve health. This energy was named “qi”. In the acupuncture theory, it is believed that the “qi” moves throughout the body by the gentle insertion and stimulation of thin, disposable sterile needles at strategic points which are called the acupuncture points. There are over 2,000 acupuncture points on the human body, and these points are said to be connected to the 12 main energy channels known as meridians which represents the 12 major organs and functions of the body.

Acupuncture is known for helping relax the body and to reduce chronic pain such as back pain which, in fact, is the top reason why people seek TCM acupuncture treatment for back pain here in Singapore as well as some of the other parts of the world. This is not very surprising since some scientific medical researches suggested that acupuncture may be and effective tool for treating chronic low back pain.

Recently, 22 acupuncture studies has been reviewed and it showed that acupuncture has indeed provided short term relief from chronic lower back pain. Also, compared to those who received a different treatment, people who were treated with TCM acupuncture for back pain showed much greater improvement in their back pain treatment.

Aside from back pain, the TCM acupuncture method is also known for treating fertility problems. Stress is one of the most common reasons of infertility and we all know that stress is not very uncommon here in Singapore due to its fast paced, highly competitive, and very much busy environment. When people are under stress, the brain releases the hormone named cortisol. According to several medical studies, there are few ways in which a TCM acupuncture infertility treatment can help in increasing fertility. Good news is, there are lots of highly skilled TCM acupuncture practitioners or clinics that specializes in treating fertility problems here in Singapore, so there’s no need to worry if you are planning to pay a visit.

In addition to back pain and fertility treatments, acupuncture has also been said to help in weight loss. According to the Traditional Chinese Medicine practice, excessive weight gains is caused by an imbalance in the body due to some malfunctions in some organs and organ system. To affect weight loss, skilled acupuncture practitioners will usually target the endocrine system to promote hormonal re-balance & to stimulate nerve, as well as the kidneys, which are addressed to treat water retention.
